project proposals and calls for submission
Thank you for your interest in exhibiting at the Contemporary (art) On Wheels.
The C(a)OW curatorial team operates like many other contemporary art institutions in that we seek calls for proposals, group shows and possible residencies.
The Unit is 6’6” tall, 6’ x 4’ x 3’ of wall space on the inside and roughly 10 square feet of floor space. (See architectural diagram).
We seek proposals that thoughtfully take into consideration the constraints
& opportunities of the CaOW’s unique characteristics— its mobility, scale and
intimacy. We are not looking for proposals that simply treat size as an exhibition requirement (for example, works that are simply scaled-down versions of larger works), nor are we interested in miniaturization for its own sake. We are interested in how the scale and other properties of the CaOW can be put towards a qualitatively different aesthetic experience.
If you would like to submit a proposal of your work or an exhibition concept for consideration please include the following (electronic submission):
*An exhibition concept statement.
*A resume/c.v. (if an individual artist)
*10-15 images of your past work (or work to be included in the exhibition). *Images should be at least 144 dpi, but no greater than 1MB each
We also have specific ‘calls for submission’ themed exhibits that artists may submit for. The criteria for submission is the same as above.

We no longer accept submissions by post.
Please allow up to 6 weeks for review of your materials. Submissions are reviewed for solo and group exhibitions by the C(a)OW curating team. There are no fixed deadlines. After preliminary review by the team, individuals will be contacted about the current feasibility of their submission. If accepted, we require a $30 exhibition fee to cover nominal costs (we are a non-profit and do not receive support from other sources).
